The file provider is very bad. It's excruciatingly slow and unreliable. I'm actively researching Dropbox alternatives, a client of over 10 years is saying bye-bye because of this.

For anyone who has the same issue, to me it helped to give Full Disk Access to Dropbox in the System Settings / Privacy and Security tab.
