Leave the machine awake and running for a couple hours and see if the indexing/syncing count drops when you hover over dropbox on the toolbar. Worked for me

I was able to solve this issue by leaving my Mac plugged in and powered on overnight. I turned off auto-sleep and it seems it was able to correct itself.

I've tried restarting, reinstalling dropbox, disabling firewalls/antivirus, allowing full disk access to dropbox, unselecting all folders to sync and then reselecting them. It just gets held up on 119 files that are "open".
