It was so long back that I have lost all those sources. However, I remember doing something with DotNetOpenAuth, DropNet and NewtonSoft.json. I just now searched and found some things that might help: https://github.com/DropNet/DropNet https://stackoverflow.com/questions/38432377/asp-net-file-upload-to-dropbox-via-api

Oops. On debugging, I found that it is stuck at CopyTo and that takes a long time and times out. So does the actual download occur on "CopyTo"? Update: Was above to solve this by studying the Asp.net samples on:…

Any ideas how to catch a Timeout exception for large downloads? I tried using Try/Catch but it is not raised. Update: I tried this code but it doesn't cause a timeout. var expirationTimeTask = Task.Delay(TimeSpan.FromSeconds(30)); var strm = response.GetContentAsStreamAsync(); var finishedTask = await…

Thanks for the speedy reply! I was missing the "await" and hence it was complaining that CopyTo is not a method of Task<Stream>.

I have one more question in this regard. Didn't post a new question because you still don't have a separate section for App Marketing questions. Question: I will be making a dropbox Web App as an additional facility for my own Desktop App for which I already have customers. Can I start charging for this Web App in the…

Finally, I was able to test it with https and it works perfectly. In fact, if I follow this approach, it works automatically, asking for login only once and then navigating automatically. This is great. Thanks, Sanjay

That's exactly what I want. That means, I can just save a flag in the cookie that says it was approved once. And use it to switch on that option. Switch it off only if the user wants to switch the dropbox accounts by some other action. >>Note that this still will return a new access token to your app though. That's OK.…

Apparently, many may want this feature. For example, here is a thread on SO that has exactly a similar question with no solution so far. https://stackoverflow.com/questions/12275100/is-there-a-way-to-use-dropbox-for-authentication-without-re-authorization

>>To avoid having the user go through the Dropbox app authorization flow each time, you would need to store the access token in their session/cookies and re-use it when they return.<< I have no problem in saving the access token in the DB against the Email. But next time when the user comes to use the App, I want Dropbox…

Just to clarify, I will be saving the access token in the Session only but not in any db.

Hi Greg, Thanks for the hint. However, that code was still MVC and I have never done any async stuff in Web Forms. So I had to do some research. Finally, I was able to get the access token. Now I can try the API in Web Forms. Many thanks, Sanjay

Hi Greg, Thanks for replying promptly. A few related questions: 1) I thought specifying the Chooser/Saver domain for the App Settings will only make the file available to that domain. Is that true at least for the second type of "download" URL that expires in 4 hours? Or is that also available from anywhere for download?…
