Every update takes Dropbox longer to launch on my Silicon iMac. It takes at least a minute now and usually doesn't bother connecting at all!! How can you rely on cloud storage like this? I've had enough. I'm off to Google Drive!

Good to read your comments. I am relatively new to Dropbox and assumed that it was 'Normal' to have to physically download new Dropbox files😕

I want to know which Stable Build to use. There are now three of them with the same number!
-
Just updated from Stable Build 171.4.6182 on my Silicon iMac. What a difference. It's actually slowwwwwwwwwwwer to launch!
-
Installed on my M1 Silicon iMac, running Ventura 13.3, the Dropbox app takes significantly longer to launch than the previous Stable versions. It used to be about 4 seconds now it takes nearly a couple of minutes! Installed on my other iMac, an Intel machine running Catalina 10.15.7, it takes about 3 seconds.

Just installed the latest stable version and the size of the folders is still not displayed. Maybe it's a 'new' feature 😉
-
It was certainly displayed in the same way over two weeks ago in the stable version but, as I said, you can see the size of the files inside the folders and everything else is working OK as far as i am aware.
-
When you open the folders you will get a list of the contents, each with it's size displayed. As far as I am aware it's been like this for some time.

'What happens if I terminate the beta after moving the Dropbox folder to ~/Library/CloudStorage?' The setting, ~/Library/CloudStorage, should remain and, from my experience, that set up will work perfectly with any of the more recent Stable versions of Dropbox. The last Stable version, 167.4.4719, works great and so did…

Everything worked perfectly and I've had several updates since carrying out the move last Autumn. The only thing I had to do with some apps, that use Dropbox, was to 'point them' to the new location of the folder. Spotlight indexing still works perfectly.
-
'crashes alle the time since then and doesn't sync.' Works ok for me. Have you tried reinstalling the earlier stable version?
-
'I assume the /CloudStorage folder' This is the way to go. I would advise allowing the move to be carried out. 'Update directly from Stable Builds page instead of allowing Dropbox macOS app to autoupdate' Autoupdate will automatically update to the stable build shown here within a day or two anyway.
-
You can 'force' Dropbox Folder to go to a new location. Go to the Sync tab here https://help.dropbox.com/account-settings/change-preferences#sync and input the new location for the Folder.

Beta Build 157.3.4719 was the original one that was supposed to change the location of the folder according to the notes that came with it. I just installed that build over my existing build and after 'jumping through a few hoops' it was automatically moved and the old location was removed. Why not try the suggestion from…

Dunno!

I already had a Stable version installed and it was in the old location under Favourites in Finder. I downloaded and installed the beta version and it led me through the process of moving the installation to Locations in Finder. The beta version updates automatically to each new beta version but if I click on 'Leave beta'…

I've found out why I keep getting beta updates. When I installed the first beta that changed the location of dropbox I was actually joining a beta test. If I try to remove myself from the testing I'm told that Dropbox will revert to the old default installation. Presumably I now have to wait until a stable version is…

I installed Beta Build 157.3.4719 a few days ago to take advantage of its updated settings for Silicon Macs. I normally only install Stable Versions, and Early Release are NOT selected in my settings, but today I found that both of my Macs had been updated to this new Beta version. It works ok but I am a bit concerned that…

I just installed the beta release and it took me through the necessary steps to install it in the new location. I am talking about the Offline Installer (Apple Silicon) version.
-
This changes the location of Dropbox on Mac OSX 12+ but once my 3rd party apps were made aware of the new location everything worked perfectly.
-
Had the same issue but having just updated to Monterey 12.5 on my Silicon iMac the icon is now black and shows text when hovering.
-
I had the 'grey' icon on my imac as well. It seemed to work ok but I decided to install the last Stable version just in case.
