This appears to be a new bug. I am affected as well, and so are others. In Taskbar Settings > Other system tray icons, there are two Dropbox entries you can toggle. One of them is turned off. Turning it on makes everything work as expected again, at least temporarily.

Same problem here for about a month. Every time when opening Dropbox from taskbar. Very annoying. (Win 11, DB v217.4.4417)
