I could drag files in and out and work on them. I didn't have to go "on-line" or see them in a different arrangement. It was very simple. I'm quitting dropbox because it's become too complicated. This is the first message I've gotten which showed me a response and where to reply.

I back up text edit files on my desktop to dropbox folder under Finder. It's simple to do. If I only go on-line if I want to try to send someone a large file.
