Sorry for the delay in replying – I installed the latest stable release, logged out, deleted both folders and allowed Dropbox to rebuild it in its new default location of ~/Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox/. Seems to be OK now (though I suppose this doesn't help explain why I ended up with two in the first place!). Thanks for…

Hi @"Walter" and thanks for the quick reply! I'm now away from that computer for a few days so can't provide screenshots but the apps preferences definitely say Users/Username/Dropbox/ as the sync location. Both folders have the Dropbox finder icons (green ticks etc) and ~/Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox/ has the Dropbox logo…

It seems the audio problem has been addressed, though I don't know whether it's related to your problem with video files. That might be worth raising a separate ticket for if it's still happening.

Hi Jay - I’ve had a ticket open for some time about this. No. 12331149 All best John

The problems you describe sound similar to the ones I encountered (and am still encountering from time to time), but in my case it's just playing from Dropbox directly that is problematic. If I download the files or choose "make available offline" the problem disappears. If you are finding that Dropbox is actually changing…

Hi @"Lusil" - yes, by all means.
-
Hi @"Lusil" ! Yes, it happens in at least Firefox and Safari, and also in the Dropbox iOS app. So far as I can tell the glitches are in the same place regardless of device or browser. It happens with both mp4 and uncompressed audio (AIFF - I haven't tried WAV yet). But with mp4 it's specific glitches and clicks, whereas…

A while ago we had a problem whereby audio played back with dropouts - see the thread https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Dropbox-files-folders/When-previewing-audio-files-on-Dropbox-the-playback-skips-or/td-p/418734 It was fixed but now it's back in a different form. Crackly noises that aren't in the original file. Yes, I…

I've been informed that this is now fixed -- I've tried a few files that had dropouts before and they have indeed gone.

Hi Daphne, Mine is 10657128. Thanks!

Really? Wow -- that's much more serious than bad playback. If it mangles the file then Dropbox is not a safe repository for files, which is its main purpose. Are you sure this is happening?
-
Well, there goes the theory that the problem is only with compressed files. Thanks for saving me the trouble of testing more AIFFs and WAVs! Let's hope they sort it out soon.
-
FWIW, I haven't been able to reproduce the problem using uncompressed audio (AIFF or WAV). So that might be a workaround, but I don't want to be uploading huge files. Or has anyone had the problem when the file uploaded is in an uncompressed format?
-
Yes, that will cache the original file rather than the Dropbox "preview". I agree Dropbox was great for this purpose until this started happening. Now I've had people thinking it was really bad editing on my part! I've raised a support ticket and pointed them to this thread, and also given them access to some examples…

Yes, that's my experience too. It's a very new behaviour so far as I can tell. I'll try raising a support ticket.

This seems to be new. It's not the poor quality transcoding that has been discussed before, but short dropouts. I've been using Dropbox to share audio files with clients for some time, and this has just started happening.
