You can revert to an old Dropbox executable, which may work until automatic update brings you back to the current version. It may be a good time to look at alternative services, depending on your budget and ability to get through a transition.

I use Dropbox primarily to send transfers & for backup of an otherwise normal folder. At least I used to, until the context menu (right click to transfer a file) broke on Windows. I then switched to SwisstTransfer.

To Dropbox: This is not a small issue. The context menu is not just a shortcut way to do certain things, it's the primary way to do things. It's not a bug that's been fixed.

@DieterDK I am among those that rolled back to a prior build, the context menu worked, then it did not work, then installed 260.4.2926. The context menu is not working. I would not care as much if the system tray menu had "dropbox transfer" as an option. BUG IS NOT FIXED AS OF Edition Windows 10 Home Version 22H2 Installed…

Is there a way to launch "Dropbox transfer" on an arbitrary file (not in dropbox) without using the context menu?

Or not. 1) Had the problem described on Windows 10 (patched to current under the EOL program at Microsoft) 2) Installed 260.4.2926 3) Manually quit Dropbox 4) Manually typed "Dropbox" in the search box, to start the dropbox client 5) No context menu.

This accepted answer is now obsolete, as Dropbox finally fixed the bug.
