Thanks Hannah - I'm not sure what File Provider is, however when I look at the location of the Dropbox folder it's HD -> users ->byname -> Dropbox - that is the folder that is located in my pinned "favorites." What do you mean by locations? I can't find anything on it using Google and it's not something I've heard of…

Omg @"Nancy" That fixed it, thank you!!!
-
Thanks @"Walter" I did both of those tasks, permissions and hard links, and nothing changed.
-
@"Jay" I have no idea where the file originated from - when I first noticed this file was causing problems, I opened the Dropbox.com site and looked at ALL of my files. Using search I was able to find it, and it wasn't even an image, but a file missing an icon. I deleted it, permanently, from that location, thinking that…

@"Jay" Negative. All files/folders are synced and have the green checkmark. This dropbox folder is shared by a second computer, my PC, and it's 100% normal on that end, regular icon, nothing pending, etc, it's just on this Mac.

@"Hannah" I uninstalled the Dropbox app on my Mac, and reinstalled it. Same issue, shows a "1" icon and says it's still trying to upload the file I deleted.
-
@"Nancy" The "View sync issues" shows no problems. At the bottom of the pop-out menu from the system bar at the top of my Mac it says "syncing 3 files" but I have no actual files I'm trying to sync. Here's what I see (attached).

I have another PC synced to the same folder and no error on that one, which is a PC, so like you mine is on this machine only. It doesn't impact Dropbox's functionality thank goodness but annoying that it is stuck in a never-ending loop!

I restarted my Mac, sync message is unchanged. It's the latest version, MacOS Sonoma 14.0, m1 and 16GB of memory. Location is the default - /Users/username/Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox Thanks for any help. The TL;DR summary is it was stuck on that one file syncing, so I deleted it via dropbox.com as i don't even know where…

Thanks @"Jay" - I appreciate the explanation, but am very unhappy about this. Do you know if it was an Apple thing? I used that "send to Dropbox" option all the time, and I can't drag files onto the Dropbox shortcut anymore either 😞 Regardless, I appreciate the help.

Hi @"Hannah" Thanks for your reply. The files in Dropbox have normal right-click options yes. Here's some additional screens to show my settings.

Hi @"Jay" - yes, just one MacOS device. I have an M1 air and a windows PC that both share the folder. On the Mac it's in /Users/myname/Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox So when I put a file into the folder from my PC, a cloud icon appears next to it on my Mac and I have to download the file, and this was never the case…

Thanks @"Nancy" . Here's a summary. Right-click options do not exist for files that are not in Dropbox. This is my main issue as I use two computers that share this folder. I have to manually copy them to the Dropbox folder now. In my Dropbox I can right-click and share files normally, etc. None of those files have a…

Thanks Walter. Here's the status/version, and full disk access was not enabled, but I enabled it and there's no change.
