You do not need to change anything in VeraCrypt or TruCrypt. The newest version of Dropbox is properly syncing just the changed blocks for those programs (as it used to do). The original problem that spawned this forum thread has been resolved in the newer versions of Dropbox.

You should probably start a separate support ticket to request that. They fixed the problem with .tc and .hc files only after I submitted a support ticket. (I don't think they fixed it simply due to forum comments). So, it might be more likely to be resolved if you submit a support ticket specifically requesting any file…

Thank you for fixing the originally reported issue. I have tested Dropbox version 86 and it is NOW correctly syncing the VeraCrypt and TruCrypt files that were not working at time of reporting. [The original request required Dropbox to notice when VeraCrypt and/or TruCrypt applications dismounted the volume file (even…

This is not a problem with third party programs. This is a Dropbox programming failure. It’s simply a case of Dropbox no longer correctly identifying changed blocks in TrueCrypt and VeraCrypt volumes when they are dismounted. So, they are not syncing the changed blocks. Now a programmer must have programmed that in at some…

I submitted Ticket 9861601. The issue is that TrueCrypt encrypts files and folders into a single File *.tc, and VeraCrypt uses similar encryption to encrypt files and folders into a single *.hc file. To make changes to an encrypted volume, we use TrueCrypt (or VeraCrypt) to open the file (volume), then we change or update…

I reported the original problem to support via a ticket when we found the issue -- I just got an email yesterday that they have submitted it to an engineer and will let me know when they have something to report. So, I'm hoping it was unintentional, and that they can fix it in the next release.

I had done a similar test, but with TrueCrypt ending in .tc extension. The entire encrypted volume was only 300MB, but took over an hour to upload (our DSL upload speed is less than 1Mbps, even though download is much faster). The normal sync would have been done 5 or 10 minutes maximum. Perhaps others should do some tests…

This was NOT solved! All that does is cause Dropbox to sync the entire encrypted volume. It STILL is NOT doing a block-level sync.

I'm seeing the same thing. It also stopped doing block-level syncs for TrueCrypt encrypted files (.tc extension). I've been using Dropbox for years with both TrueCrypt and VeraCrypt files and this new version 83.4.152 is the first update to break the detection of block-level changes when the encrypted volume is dismounted.…
