I have the exact same problem. Navigating my local Dropbox folders on Windows 10 is painfully slow (using arrow keys to scroll through files, etc). It is as though I'm navigating an online cloud interface, not a local directory. This started just a couple of weeks ago and has really degraded the usability of Dropbox.

Which competitors replied to you? Google Drive is not a viable solution for syncing across multiple machines. So, I think my best option is Box Sync (NOT Box Drive). But I'm not sure if Box is still really maintaining Box Sync. Also, it syncs much more slowly than Dropbox (the reason I switched away from it in the first…

Yup, it sounds like they are moving to a Google Drive / Box Drive model. The only thing is, those services are much cheaper (in fact, they are free at many universities). There is no longer any point to a Dropbox subscription. Unfortunately I've got almost a year left on my now canceled subscription, and now I'm stuck with…

Actually, it's even more complicated that this, because I have FOLDERS that consist entirely of local files but for some reason have a white icon.

Here's the latest reply from Dropbox: Dear customer, Are you an idiot? The new system could not be simpler. A green icon means A, B, C, or D. And sometimes E. A gray icon means F, G, or H. Except when it means I. (Please see attached schedule of icons for additional details.) A white icon means J, K, L, or M. Basically,…

If you are able, I suggest everyone cancel their plans. I just canceled mine. It is good through next year, so if by some miracle they fix this idiocy, I will resubscribe. Otherwise I will be migrating to Google Drive when my plan expires. Seriously, this is the dumbest ****** imaginable.

Does anyone at Dropbox actually read this forum? This change seems universally despised, but there's no way of knowing whether it will be rolled back or not. I think we would all like to know. If this is a permanent change, I will likely end my subscription and go back to using my free university Box Sync account. Box has…

Yeah, the new system is completely asinine. Even the people at Dropbox don't seem to understand it or be able to explain it. Keep waiting for the next update in hope that this will go away.

Mine looks almost exactly the same (just the PC version instead of Mac). I guess this is minor in the grand scheme of things, but this seems like such an annoying change that accomplishes absolutely nothing. I just want locally available synced files and folders all to look the same, so I don't do a double-take every time…

Sorry, I pasted the wrong section of my chat. I meant to post this part: >> A file with the available offline icon (green background with a white tick) means that the file is downloaded to your PC/Mac. Files in this state have been made available offline by right clicking the file and selecting Make available offline. A…

Yes, the new system of having two types of green synced icon is incredibly frustrating. For some reason, I have folders that are solid green and folders that are hollow green (even though they are completely local), and I have files that are solid green and files that are hollow green. Yet there is no difference between…
