I've tried to restore back last week's restore point but I keep getting the error mentioned by OP. I tried the registry entry to exclude \Dropbox\.dropbox.cache\*.* /s Does anyone know if you re-script or edit the restore point and delete \Dropbox\.dropbox.cache content?

Just want to give my thumbs down. Can't do a system restore because of the exact same error message. Microsoft OneDrive has reasonable basic features to match Dropbox, so there's no point in using Dropbox if they can't fix this or work with Microsoft to fix this. Its been at least a year since this issue has been reported…

WhiteRobin - If you don't want the file to be altered, I think you may have to put the images inside a zip file. That way, Dropbox will not perform any post-processing of the images.
