It means that the next time that computer is online it will remove the files from that computer's Dropbox folder. Your files will remain safe in your account and any other computer that is still linked. It is a method for remotely wiping a computer that has been lost or stolen.

No, it's not. [This thread is now closed by moderators due to inactivity. If you're experiencing a similar behavior, feel free to start a new discussion in the Dropbox Community here.]

Dropbox does not save information about whom you've sent links to; only the links themselves (on the Links page). If you need to save this information, copy the link and send it using your own email client.

Moved to the API forum.

Download and install the Dropbox client. Place the files in the local Dropbox folder that gets created and they will sync to your account. If you don't need them stored locally after that, use Selective Sync to remove the local copy of the folders (but ONLY after they have FINISHED SYNCING).

That's the link he'll need, but it only works for Pro and Business accounts. Basic accounts cannot enable the Public folder if they don't already have one.
-
Can i upgrade for a month and then downgrade? Yes, you can. Just remember what I said; the Public folder is a deprecated feature and has been replaced by Share links. There's no guarantee that it will be around forever.
-
The "Public" folder is a special folder; not one you created. It's also a deprecated feature that no longer exists on new accounts (Pro and Business accounts can still create one; Basic accounts cannot). Public links were replaced by Share links, which can be created for any file or folder in your account (i.e. not limited…

Does dropbox not participate in this Forum This is primarily a user supported forum. While a Dropboxer (that's a Dropbox employee) does post once in a while, the majority of the people replying here are users that volunteer their time. If you want an official response from Dropbox, then you need to open a ticket with…

I don't understand why when I open a file - it asks me at the top if I want to enable editing. Are you opening the file directly from the Dropbox website? Files opened through a web browser are typically marked as Read Only. But after i have closed the document and reopened it the edits I have made have gone. When you open…

Everyone... Please refrain from the personal attacks... towards Dropbox, the Super Users and the other commenters, or this thread will be closed. Keep it civil and on topic. Thank you.

Worse than the lack of a simple fix is Dropbox's ignoring of a thread that goes back over a YEAR asking for help. Do any Dropbox administrators read these forums? The forums are primarily user-supported. While a Dropboxer (that's a Dropbox employee) does post on occasion, it's not often. For direct communication with…

Dropbox is not an authority They are over their own policies and procedures. Also: Now let's please keep this thread on topic. If you're wish to further discuss the Recents feature that is fine, but anything else related to these forums, my function here or Dropbox's policies and procedures should be left to another thread…

This domain (dropboxforum.com) is registered to and sponsored by dropbox. Yes, it is, for community, i.e. user to user, support. As stated before... Tickets should really be for personal issues and personal support. For generic issues it is better to address these in fora. All issues should have a ticket if you want an…

Why won't an official company employee come on this thread and give us an answer? The forums are primarily user-supported. Although a Dropboxer (that's a Dropbox employee) does respond once in a while (and has even done so in this thread already) the majority of the people answering these posts are users like yourself. If…

Is it possible to delete the Dropbox app on my iPhone without affecting the files in my Dropbox, which I access on my desktop? Yes. Uninstalling Dropbox (from any platform) will not delete the files in your account. I need to clear up space on my phone. I'll reload the app after that, which i've found frees up space. Yes,…

I just got a note from Dropbox that my limit is being reduced because it was a apparently a temporary storage limit from a promotion. When I signed up it was presented as a permanent limit. Bonus space earned through promotions from mobile devices and other purchases (Samsung, HTC, Dell, HP, etc.) have never been…

I notice that this topic has been renamed I did that, a couple of times actually. This topic has evolved quite a bit since it was first started (when it was called How to clear Recent file list in Apple mobile apps) and now covers more than just clearing the list, or Apple devices. Since it's being used as the main…

You're correct, there was no profanity in that statement, but it implied an act that doesn't need to be discussed on these forums, just as the last (now deleted) line in your most recent reply did as well. I'll ask you to keep the discussions on topic. If you continue making such comments your posting privileges could be…

Justin, Dropbox does not provide ETA's on resolutions or new features. Also, per the terms, Dropbox does not issue refunds. You can downgrade your account so that it doesn't auto-renew at the end of your subscription, but you will not be refunded the balance. You'll continue to have your Pro account benefits until your…

How, exactly, does forcing the Recents tab to display first force you to use more space?

If anybody picks up my tablet and opens Dropbox, every document I'm working on is in easy reach. For the time being, enable the feature that requires a PIN to open Dropbox. No one will be able to see your files if they open Dropbox.

The files within these directories seem to be .DB and .DBX which may be readable with SQLite (I have not tested). While Dropbox does indeed use SQLite, the databases are encrypted and cannot be modified. I'm going to see if I can stop notifications for this thread. If you haven't found it yet, there is an Unfollow link on…

this forum is a dropbox.com registered domain (see whois) and the only place where customers of dropbox can complain with the idle hope that someone of dropbox reads it. I never stated that Dropbox does not own the site. It is their site and they maintain these forums. That being said, the majority of the people providing…

then not respond to the people complaining in the forums, You do realize that this is a user-supported forum, yes? While a Dropboxer does reply on occasion, the majority of all support received here is from other users that volunteer their time. If you want an official response, open a ticket with Support. That's correct, Anthony. There's no way to change the billing country on an active subscription. You need to let your subscription lapse and then sign up again with your new payment method. The following is a reply to a similar question from a Dropboxer: Ashley scribbled: Hi there! Unfortunately, it's not possible to…
