I can't get them to play on Windows Media Play although it supposedly supports 3GP and MP4 File types (extensions) don't matter too much. It's the codec used to encode the video that matters most, and different codecs can (and often do) use the same file type. If you don't have the appropriate codec for your video…

No.

No, there isn't, and you just did (this post is already in Product Feedback).

Sounds like the owner of the file is sending you a public link rather than a shared link (Public links are for files located in their Public folder). Public links will download immediately. Only a share link will take you to the preview page where the Download button is found. Here's an example of both using the same file…
-
Make sure you're logged in to your Dropbox account, then click the blue Download button. You'll see an option to save the file to your Dropbox.
-
Yes, you are. I've moved your post to Product Feedback.

So I'm [censored]. First, watch your language here please. This is a public forum and language such as that could get your posts deleted or your account banned. Thank you. Western Digital (WD, not HP) says it is a problem with Dropbox, Dropbox says it is a problem with the Drive. It's most definitely an HP problem. The app…
-
Not that I've seen, no, at least not on the HP drives. There's another NAS with a Dropbox problem but the issue is in their app and the way it connects to Dropbox (I think they were using an older connection method that Dropbox no longer permits). It's possible (probable?) that it's the same problem for your HP NAS, but…
-
You'll need to continue working with HP on this I'm afraid. Dropbox wouldn't have created the app on that device; HP would have, using the Dropbox API. Only they can provide support for it.

The thread that you have posted the link to (which I had already read) is about how to clear the recent file list, not how to fix the undesirable behaviour. That thread started out that way, but changing the behavior is also included in the discussion (and the primary topic of that thread as you read further). It's also…

Keith, No one is ignoring the mobile apps. As I've already stated twice in this thread, which you've been through while up-voting, this thread is discussing the Recents tab on the website, which can already be disabled as default. I also posted a link to the thread discussing the mobile clients. I'll post it here again for…
-
It started as an Apple thread but quickly moved to cover all mobile apps. It's the largest and most appropriate thread on Recents in the mobile apps so it's the one we've been redirecting everyone to use. Doesn't make sense to have a separate post for each mobile app. On the website, which this thread covers, you can…

That currently works for web only and not mobile. To add to what Ed posted... This thread is referring to the Recents page on the Dropbox website; not the mobile clients. For further discussion about Recents on the mobile clients, please refer to the following thread: *…

if anybody picks up my tablet and opens Dropbox, they get to see whatever I'm working on For the time being, enable the feature that requires a PIN to open Dropbox. No one will be able to see your files if they open Dropbox.

Is there really no way to turn Recents off? No, there isn't. Bookmark the Files page and use that to enter the site. It looks like Dropbox might be changing that (it's already not the default for some people and mine has changed as well, though I was part of the beta). Give it some time and you may see that it changes back.
-
It was intended as harsh because the same argument has been made (by others as well) on the forums many times over the last couple of years. We like the changes that Dropbox gives us, but we want more control over them. Don't just assume that I want to start on the Recents page when I log in (I don't!) and allow us to set…

We're working on filtering out those junk files better. This is one issue I always seem to have with Dropbox. What would be a junk file to one person may be an important file to me. Don't decide what is or isn't junk for us. Instead, give us the ability to filter the results ourselves. Stop assuming that you know what's…
-
It can't be disabled and there's no way to clear the list. If you don't want to see it anymore, create a bookmark for the Files page and use it to enter the site. You'll bypass the Recents page that way.

@"michael": This is only going away for HTML files. Documents, images, etc., will continue to work as they always have. @"arturas": This thread has some alternatives for HTML files, at least one of which will sync with your Dropbox so you won't have to change storage providers (and note that other storage providers are…

With share links, yes, absolute URLs must be used, and you would need to create a share link for every files you reference. If you have a Public folder you can use relative URLs as long as all files are in your Public folder somewhere, but again, anything in that folder can be shared publicly. Note: The Public folder is a…

Using the Dropbox website, it will only render as HTML if you access the file using a share link (and slightly modify the share link as well). Here's an example: * https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/uywg97ipj1o1t6e/index.html?dl=0 Of course, when you create a share link to a file, anyone that has that link is able to…

That feature has disappeared! That feature has not disappeared. Double-clicking the Dropbox icon in the system tray (Windows) or menu bar (Mac) still opens the Dropbox folder. A single-click will open the Dropbox app. If this isn't happening for you, download the latest release and uninstall/reinstall.
-
However, as of this morning, both of my computers will not respond when I double click on the Dropbox icon in the system tray. That functionality has changed. Double-clicking the icon no longer opens the Dropbox folder. See here for more information: *…

It's not a hidden folder, but a symbolic link, at least that's what it should be. When Dropbox renames the folder to Dropbox (Personal) or Dropbox (Company Name), it creates a symlink to that folder using the Dropbox name. So while you see your folder renamed to Dropbox (Personal), it remains accessible using that name or…
-
The folder cannot be renamed. If it's that critical, uninstall and reinstall Dropbox. Uninstall the Dropbox client. Rename your Dropbox (Personal) folder to something else (just in case) like Dropbox_OLD. Reinstall the Dropbox client. Once installed it will immediately start to sync your files from the cloud. Either pause…

The website seems to be experiencing some problems at the moment. The web team is aware and looking into it. Please use the following thread to track this issue. * https://www.dropboxforum.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/205622473-Horribly-slow-
