No. File Requests will not allow anyone except the recipient to see the files uploaded. Not even the uploader will be able to see the file after it has been submitted. It turns out that there does seem to be an issue with this happening to certain people. emilg was the first to mention it but there were no other reports of it happening at the time. Several days later more people started to report it. As the other thread for this issue is longer and has a Dropboxer replying to it on…

I'm merging these threads into one so it's easier to track this issue.

If you shared a folder and invited people to it, by default they have edit access as well. This means they can add, change or delete the files within it. If they dragged the files out of the shared folder, thinking that they were making a copy or moving them intentionally, the files would be removed from your Dropbox.

Dropbox does not release information about future features or their release dates.

They were either on the computer or still in your account. There's no way for old files to just reappear unless they still existed on a device that was linked back to your account. Look at the previous version information for one of the files and it will tell you the account and computer that it originated from.

In the case of an encryption event like that, working with Support and having them roll back your account is really the best option. https://www.dropbox.com/help/9217#encrypted

Was there an existing Dropbox folder already on that computer from a previous installation? If so, when you linked the computer to your account it may have reused the existing folder and anything in it would have been uploaded to your Dropbox account as if it were new.

natski wrote:I had everything the way i wanted it, but when i shared the link it became a .pdf file. That makes no sense! You're right, that doesn't make any sense, because Dropbox can't do that. Exactly how did you try to share the photos?

You have it installed, but is it running? Can you see the Dropbox icon in your system tray (Windows) or menu bar (Mac)? If not, the Share... option will not be available. Also, the Share... option is only available on files and folders that are located inside the Dropbox folder. Files or folders outside of Dropbox will not…

Side-loading is the term used for loading unauthorized applications on to an Android device. Your Kindle is an Android-based device. There are methods for doing this on iPhones as well, and it involves jailbreaking the iPhone.

If you delete them from the camera roll/gallery on your device, they will not be deleted from Dropbox. If you delete them from the Dropbox app on your phone, they WILL be deleted from your Dropbox account.

Best guess, the Dropbox application itself handles it, likely by calling Shell32.dll and requesting one of the overlay icons that are registered in the Registry. That being said, Dropbox has never made that information available. You would need to ask Support, though I doubt they will have an answer for you.

I've never seen a concurrent user limit mentioned.

There are no such commands. Dropbox uses an encrypted database on the local computer to store its information. There are no commands or utilities that can be used to access that information.
-
Unless you decide to side-load applications on to your Kindle, you're limited to the apps found in the Amazon store, and unfortunately, Dropbox is not in the Amazon store. Side-loading is not a supported method (by Amazon, Dropbox or Google).

I've just spoken with a contact within Dropbox and they tell me that this is a known bug and that they're currently working on a solution. I'll post more if and when I get it.
