Thanks for the stream of information. I was able to opt out of File Provider with the instructions in the link above, and I have now changed the Dropbox location to one of the external drives.

Is there a way I can install the original version of the Dropbox app that is not the File Provider version? I read through the updates, and the steps to comply with the Beta version of Dropbox using the File Provider, and it is not a program I would like to be involved in at this time.

Here is what the Preferences/sync looks like. There is no button to change the location of the Dropbox folder, and it says the location is set by the MacOS.

Currently Dropbox is on the internal drive that the MacOS is on. The drive that Dropbox used to be on was a single 12TB drive, which failed. The current external drives are all formatted MacOS Extended (Journaled), which is Apple's name for HFS+. The OS is Sequoia 15.7.
