I have been on the betas for some 18 months, throughout the change to CloudStorage and fileproviderd. I started on the betas because I wanted to understand the new way and I have had very few problems. Now that CloudStorage/fileproviderd are fully established I am thinking about going back to stable releases. Is this as…

Is this build, and ongoing stable builds, now fully compatible with the filerproviderd/CloudStorage config? I have been on filerproviderd/CloudStorage since early last year, on Dropbox betas obviously. I would like to leave the betas, so looking for assurance that the stable builds are now working with…

The thread you have posted is a very old version 140.3.1903, so I assume that is what you have tried to install. Try installing latest version: https://help.dropbox.com/installs/upgrade-latest-version

When I login I get a message that says i'm using an old version of DB and need to get the latest version, which I actually did already. Under the Dropbox icon it says that it's waiting to be linked to a dropbox…

I had to sign out and start over to get the beta to apply the CloudStorage method, as others have, but that was several months ago and I thought it had changed.

@"asiufy" wrote:I believe I do. 99% of my files are music files, and I use a library software to catalog them. Once catalogued, the file is put "online-only", and before, Dropbox would fetch it whenever I asked that particular file to be played. Nice. Problem is, if Dropbox moves the location of the files, I am not sure my…

@"asiufy" wrote:OK, so it seems to me that a whole new download of everything is necessary, and that's a big problem for me, as I have 18Tb of data and obviously a not-big-enough drive on my computer... If I'm going to download everything again (and force my apps to rescan all my data again), I might as well switch to…

@"asiufy" wrote:So, how do I get Dropbox to actually move to the ˜/CloudStorage/ location? I did it some builds ago by completely uninstalling Dropbox and reinstalling with fresh set up.....after which I had all my data in the CloudStorage location. At that point it was all on-line only so I had to right click "make…

Yes, it does work perfectly, and my files are in ~/OneDrive. That said, there *is* a ˜/Library/CloudStorage/OneDrive file (or package) not folder. Nothing from Dropbox in ˜/Library/CloudStorage though... @"asiufy" wrote:Yes, it does work perfectly, and my files are in ~/OneDrive. That said, there *is* a…

@"asiufy" wrote:OneDrive works fine, and keeps files in the user's home folder. If I have to download terabytes of data all over again, I'd definitely move to OneDrive instead. Do you mean that Onedrive automatically downloads on-line only files in 12.3+, without the Onedrive folder being in…

I can confirm that Dropbox does, for me, automatically download online only files when requested by a third party app. I don't understand Dropbox's rollout policy since there is such variation of experience and so little communication from Dropbox. My Dropbox folder is in ~/Library/CloudStorage/ on both my Macs but the…

Thanks you very much @"Rich" That is exactly the kind of explanation I was seeking, but has not been said in any of the threads where the disparity between latest beta build and what is installed on our computers has been noted and discussed. It makes sense that there could be different early release streams for different…

I am on early releases, but both my Macs have updated themselves to 152.2.2537.....a later build than this one. I have asked this before on beta build announcements but had no replies.

I am on early releases and my Macs have autoupdated to 151.2.1681 How does this relate to 150.3.4987? I have the 12.3 fix and Dropbox folder is in ~/Library/CloudStorage/ and at the moment is working well.

My Macs have skipped this build and automatically updated from 149.3.4541 to 150.2.2850.

My understanding is that Smart Sync has been replaced by the new right click actions. "Smart Sync actions have been renamed to “make online only” and“make available offline”" This is a quote from a Dropbox article in a beta section which this forum won't let me link to. If you are seeing that I assume your Dropbox folder…

Weird that you are on a separate beta series...149.X.YYYY! I am seeing some odd behaviour but not quite the same. All my Dropbox files are correctly indicated "online only" or "available offline" and seem to be behaving correctly. BUT, I use DEVONthink to index all my Dropbox files and DEVONthink is showing some folders…

When are you going to fix the Mac OS 12.3 offline files issue? This build (and several recent betas) supports the 12.3 offline files solution (ie the move to ~/Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox) but you may have sign out/uninstall/reinstall/sign in to make it happen..... as I did.

After writing the previous post, I launched Dropbox form the apps folder, and it started OK. I had tried this before posting but it hadn't worked.

Getting message "Couldn't start Dropbox" after reboot. Message says "Contact Dropbox Support with the following info for help", then a link which gives this in a Textedit file: M1 MacBook Air running macOS 12.3.1 bn.BUILD_KEY: Dropboxbn.VERSION: 148.3.4469bn.constants.WINDOWS_SHELL_EXT_VERSION: 52bn.is_frozen:…

What is the correct way of reporting bugs? I am using this build on my M1 MacBook Air and my Dropbox folder has been migrated to ~/Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox All is working OK (after reconfiguring third party apps that sync with Dropbox, to use the new location). One of these apps is Moneydance which writes transaction…

As above, after I reinstalled 146.3.4765 it updated itself to 146.3.4786, and that has now updated to 148.3.4469. So my Dropbox is now updating itself correctly, and the 148 series is now "on the map" with an official notification. The version 148.2.1667 seems to have "escaped".... there was never a notification and it…

Question answered by new beta today: 148.3.4469
-
This is a higher build number than the latest beta 147.3.4786, which I don't think has happened before. Is there a simple explanation?
-
There is a new stable build 147.4.4800 which appears to supersede this latest beta build 147.3.4786. Any suggestions or info about this?

@"jekratz" Hmmm...just been doing some testing and discovered that the article about the DropboxMacUpdater process must be out of date. I installed 147.3.1465 on a completely fresh test macOS 12.3.1 install, and it immediately updated itself to 147.3.4786 .... and there is no DropboxMacUpdater process running in Activity…

@"jekratz" Thanks very much for that! My installation of 148.2.1667 that I obtained using your link, has not updated to 148.2.2334 or 148.2.3534. I suspect the is because the process DropboxMacUpdater is not running in my Activity Monitor as it should be according to this article. Can you confirm that DropboxMacUpdater is…

The change to the ~/Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox location is already happening for some users not on beta. It is coming to all Mac users on macOS 12.3 or later. Dropbox Location change to ~/Library/CloudStorage on Macs The support staff on the Dropbox forums don't seem to be aware of the change.
