@"Megan" You don't seem to know about this change: Dropbox location change to ~/Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox

@"JWL Photo" wrote:This has worked for me in the past: * Make sure everything is currently synced using your current stable build of the app. * Backup anything on Dropbox that you can't afford to lose. * Make sure you have "Early Releases" turned on in your online settings. * Disconnect your current app/computer from your…

I have now sorted DEVONthink and Moneydance successfully. Moneydance was a matter of changing the sync method to select the new location for the syncstore. (The app will need changing because you cant just select the "Dropbox Folder" method anymore. DEVONthink I actually created new Databases and pointed them at the new…

@"jekratz" Thanks, yes reading around there shouldn't be a problem with DEVONthink but I haven't been clear whether DEVONthink links with its indexed files automagically, or whether I will have to change anything, even reindex them in the new location. I am still waiting for my download to complete, and don't want to…

@"JWL Photo" Decided I would do it this evening and it all worked as discussed. I used version 148.2.1667. Currently all is being downloaded, which I had to initiate ....the default state was to be cloud only. Thanks for the encouragement. Now to see what DEVONthink and Moneydance make of it!
-
BTW I am favouring the fresh download approach rather than seeding the new location by moving my files.

@"JWL Photo" wrote:Just to clarify, though … the resyncing will happen in ANY case (even if it works on its own). Yes. Doing the first sync is in effect doing a fresh download. I wonder if you are implying that I could move the contents of ~/Dropbox to ~/Library/Cloudstorage ....and then Dropbox would of course re-sync…

@"JWL Photo" Thanks. All my files are downloaded, nothing is cloud-only, so in my case it will be a matter of downloading a fresh copy of everything.
-
@"JWL Photo" Thanks for the detail. Can I clarify something please..... It sounds like after the reinstall, Dropbox downloaded a new set of your data from the Cloud direct into ~/Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox, leaving the original ~/Dropbox spare and unused. Hence your advice that you could delete ~/Dropbox as part of the…

Thanks both ....will sleep on that!

@"jekratz" wrote:See if something happens on the next release. It took awhile for mine to switch over. Are you saying the switch over to ~/Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox happened between updates? I assumed it would happen immediately as a result of an update. Thanks

148.2.1667 has not moved my Dropbox to ~/Library/CloudStorage/
-
Thanks @"jekratz" . I just used your link and got 148.2.1667, but puzzled I was behind and there is no Community section for it. I am on Early Releases on an M1 MBA.
-
Where are you getting 148.2.1667 from? I thought I was notified of all new betas which either get installed automatically or I download and install. Latest I have is this one, 147.3.4765.
-
Thanks! In reality the current situation is not too much of a problem for me, but I have two key apps (DEVONthink and Moneydance) that point to Dropbox data and the impact that the location change will have is unclear, so I would like to get it all resolved.
-
I am puzzled that for the last month or two some people have been reporting the anticipated relocation of the Dropbox folder to ~/Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox, but it has not happened for many of us, with the same beta builds and macOS version. Dropbox must have a way of rolling out the version that changes the location by…

It is the expected way in macOS 12.3, See this article. https://www.macrumors.com/2022/01/27/macos-12-3-deprecates-dropbox-onedrive-kexts/ It is not optional and applies to M1 and Intel macs. That article says Dropbox will be releasing a Beta to address the change in March, So I am surprised it has happened for you…
-
Dropbox personnel said in another thread that the silicon version of betas was being released selectively until end of month. The same build number can be silicon or Intel. I was put back onto Intel after being on Silicon, then back to silicon again.
-
Activity Monitor shows each process as Apple or Intel in the "Kind" column. The "Kind" column is not checked by default. Turn it on in menubar > View > Columns.
-
"Some folks are reporting that this version supports apple silicon natively, however I am on this version and it's still showing up as an intel app in activity monitor. Is this normal?" Yes. Dropbox have said they are rolling the Silicon version out to some beta testers at the moment and all beta testers by end of the…

Just noticed one of my Macs is on Intel and the other Silicon. Both on v140.3.1861. I'm sure when I posted earlier, with both macs on 1852, they were both Silicon.

@"enrvuk" wrote:You never noticed it was the biggest resource hog? No, and it wasn't for lack of looking.

Silicon version has been released to some beta users: https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Dropbox-desktop-client-builds/Beta-Build-140-3-1852/m-p/568901#M6623 I am one of the lucky ones. No problem with it so far, but I never had a problem with running in Rosetta either.
-
@"samifathi" wrote:Hi! I just downloaded the same build and it's still Intel. Did you have to do something to switch it? No I found Dropbox had updated itself automatically as usual, and I didn't have to do anything. M1 MBA macOS 12.1
-
No it really is Silicon !! No problem so far...not that I had any when it was Intel.
-
I am disappointed in the lack of communication but I would also say that it runs fine under Rosetta. I think there is a body of opinion who associate Rosetta with the PowerPC to Intel transition, and/or simply dislike the concept of translation. The actual experience for me on two M1 Macs is that I do not believe I could…

Thanks. As I said, I have already uninstalled/reinstalled and it has solved the problem, so deleting the cache is not an option now. From researching 'deleting the cache' it seems there isn't a specific setting in Dropbox settings to do this, but using the "Offload App" option in Settings > General > iPad Storage > Dropbox…

Thanks Lusil, My Offline tab does not show any files, only a big icon with Caption "Get to your files offline" and a 'Show me how' link. Yet Settings > General > iPad Storage says 11.18GB, of which 10.91GB are Documents and Data. Rest is the app itself. My iPhone, signed into same account, also with no offline shows…
