  • Thanks for getting back to me, @"wintert". If they are dragging folders from the Dropbox folder or the desktop app, could you ask them to try manually copy and pasting them, instead? Out of curiosity, could you also let me know if they've tried downloading the folders via the website? Let me know how it goes, thanks!
  • Hello @"wintert", thanks checking in with us. Could it be that the files in the folders in question contain incompatible characters? Let me know what you find, cheers!
  • Hmm. In this case: * Could this be a shared file by any chance? * Do you have the desktop app installed? * Is the file visible in your Dropbox folder via Finder/File Explorer? Let me know what you find, @"NickRoss"!
  • Hi @"user19", thanks for posting your question on the Dropbox Community, and sorry to hear that you're also having trouble with this. Just for troubleshooting purposes, have you also by any chance downloaded a .pdf and previewed it with a third party app? If the issue persists, could you have a look at our Support page and…
  • Thanks for getting back to me, @"KarlG". I tried this out from my end, and it seems that if the name, email, and the file itself are the same, then the user receiving them may not see it on their end. If you'd like the user to know that yours is the most up to date, you can rename the file before submitting (for example,…
  • Hi there @"roseponnekanti", thanks for nudging us on this discussion. Out of curiosity, have you tried downloading the file from another browser? Do you get the same behavior if you do? Let me know what you find, cheers!
  • Hey there @"Carolinej", thanks for reaching out to us. If you disable downloads for a shared link, users won't be able to download the content from Dropbox, but they should be able to preview it. This is available currently for Dropbox Professional and Business subscriptions. For this reason, could you clarify what happens…
  • Hi there @"RichJ", thanks for checking in with us about this. In general, you can have a look at this article for some info on how symlinks work with the Dropbox folder, but you can also check out this link for some suggestions on how to tackle high CPU usage issues. If you're still having trouble with it though, don't…
  • Hey there @"NickRoss", thanks for checking in with us. It looks like you're referring to the Open function from the website, so you can check out this article for some additional info. Give us another nudge if you have any other questions, cheers!
  • Hi there @"Rodeagle", thanks for checking in with us. In general, the size limit of your transfer depends on the plan that you have. You can find more info about it, here. If you're getting such sharing error messages though, they generally refresh after 24 hours. Give me another nudge if you have any other questions,…
  • Thanks for your swift reply, @"T-Wright", and sorry to hear that you're still having trouble with this. Could you try using a different browser, clearing your cache, as well as rebooting your computer? If that still doesn't resolve this behavior, could you go to this page to see your options for contacting our Support team…
  • Hey peeps, thanks for your patience on this! This should be resolved now. If you're still getting the same error message though, don't hesitate to let us know and we'll make sure to get back to you as soon as possible. Thanks again!
  • Hey everyone, thanks for your patience on the matter. This should be resolved now. If you're still having any trouble with it though, don't hesitate to let us know and we'll make sure to get back to you as soon as possible. Thanks again!
  • Thanks for your swift reply, @"martinlastname". Hmm.  Have you also tried re-uploading the .pdf either through the website or the desktop app?
  • Hey @"martinlastname", thanks for nudging us on this thread. Out of curiosity, have you tried previewing the file from another browser or an incognito window? How about clearing the cache and making sure that you're not running any third party browser extensions/plugins? Let us know how it goes, cheers!
  • Thanks for getting back to me, @"KarlG". If the username and the file name are the same, but the email used is different, then the files may not be overwritten. Instead, it may read first name, last name, date, time, and the file name. Hope this helps!
  • Hi there @"KarlG", welcome to the Dropbox Community - good to have you on board! If the file names are the same but the username (first and last name) you entered upon submittion are different, the files won't be overwritten. More specifically, the user will see on their end: * Jane Doe - Filename.ab * John Doe -…
  • Hey @"TonyEnglund" and @"ScruffyDan", thanks for nudging us here! I just wanted to mention that if you'd like, you can post this as a feature you'd like to see implemented in the future, here, where other users can comment and upvote. In the meantime, if you have any other questions for us, just give us another nudge.…
  • Hi @"Anatal", I moved your post here where other users have expressed a similar concern. Have a look around and let us know if you have any other questions. Cheers!
  • Hi @"RonBuck", I just wanted to jump in here and ask what happens when you click on the avatar that appears on the top right corner of the menu of the Dropbox icon that's next to your computer's clock? Keep me posted, thanks!
  • Hey @"Platinumaa", I just wanted to jump in and ask if this could by any chance be due to a third party app running in the background? Could you try temporarily closing third party apps, including security software and antivirus, that could be hindering the startup and syncing process of the desktop app? Maybe that will do…
  • You're on the mark, @"swhill". You can find more info about how to delete files, in this article, and what happens to them, in this one. Also, you can check out some additional info on the permissions that editors and viewers of a shared folder have, here. Let me know if you have any other questions, thanks!
  • No worries, @"IainF"! We're always around to assist if you have any other questions, so don't hesitate to give us another nudge. In the meantime, have a lovely day ahead!
  • Hey @"Fac51", welcome to the Dropbox Community. Although there's no direct option to see metadata from the mobile app, you can check out file info from the website. You can find more info about this, here. Let me know if you have any other questions, thanks!
  • Thanks for the screenshots, @"aakhmetz"! Out of curiosity, could you let me know if the desktop app or your Finder opens when you follow the steps below? * Click on the Dropbox icon next to your computer's clock. * Select the folder icon that appears on the top of the menu. Let me know how it goes, thanks!
  • Hi there @"aakhmetz", thanks for reaching out to us about this. As a first step, could you send me a screenshot (without any personal info) of what you see when you click on the Open folders in option from your General tab in your desktop app's Preferences? Looking forward to hearing back from you!
  • Hey @"IainF", I just wanted to jump in here and mention that, if another user is having trouble previewing the updated versiom of the file, I'd recommend checking with them: * How they are previewing the file in question (via the website, the desktop app, or the mobile app)? * What does their version history show for that…
  • Hi there @"Daniel Mendes", thanks for nudging us on this thread. At first, if you want to keep a copy of the folder without it taking up space on your Dropbox account, you can save it locally to your computer by downloading it. Also, whether a folder is at the top of the hierarchy or is a subfolder, you should still be…
  • Hi there @"LBC", thanks for nudging us on this thread. Out of curiosity, when do you get the error message? Is it when previewing specific files? Could you also send us a screenshot (without any personal info) of the error message that you see? Looking forward to hearing back from you!
  • It does sound like you've got the permission set accordingly, @"StevenDeB". You can check out this thread too, where others have previously expressed similar concerns, and I'll also leave this discussion open in case any other like-minded users have additional input on the matter. In the meantime, let me know of any…
