Thanks for the reply but it’s always been able to launch from the system tray icons. What stopped working was launching it from the taskbar. I know it sounds a little petty but launching from the system trade takes two clicks and launching from the taskbar only takes one click!

Hi, completed the Advanced Install which made no direct difference but that has now allowed me to use the other fix (changing the path in the taskbar icons properties) which wasn't possible before and that IS now launching the dropbox folder. So, fixed, but there's clearly something wrong under the hood with the current…

Not working, I'm afraid. The taskbar icon doesn't have a "properties "tab when right clicked, nor does the start menu icon. It's possible to add a direct shortcut to the Dropbox .exe file onto the start menu, which does then open Dropbox, but that can't be pinned to the taskbar.

No VPN etc and yes, rebooted and s till not working. Thanks

Can confirm this is also affecting my work PC, which is Windows 10 (same dropbox version)

Hi Nancy. No change this morning. Windows 11 (up to date). Dropbox 188.4.6302 (says up to date) Thanks
-
Yes, this has happened to me again today. Last time, it was a bit of version that had been installed due to a switch in the settings, but not this time. Like you, I’m on the latest version so no idea what the problem is. Will try to sort tomorrow if it doesn’t right itself overnight.

So Dropbox support sorted it out. It was a beta version that had installed (I don't think I ever asked for beta but it was turned on in preferences). reinstalled stable version and all working 😊

Hi Jay, doesn't appear to be any issue with windows firewall and I don't have any VPN or proxy software etc. I can launch Dropbox form here but not from the icom on my taskbar or from the start menu. That support page link is allowing me to reach chat so I'll try that. Thanks
-
Also, I have Dropbox plus so I think I should have access to support via email or chat but I'm not getting those options to raise a ticket !

Just realised that its the same on my work PC running windows 10. Maybe a central Dropbox issue?

The X appears to be present regardless of the orientation now although this definitely wasn't the case initially - it's too obvious to have been missed. Thanks
-
yes. open any document by clicking on the left-hand side list and the X should be visible on the right-hand side. If not just rotate to portrait mode. The state seems to persist until you fully close the app - when you re-open the app you have to do this again, which hopefully they will give an option in future (although…
-
Sorted! The cross only seems to be visible in portrait mode, although the change persists when you switch back to landscape.
-
Ok so I’m confused. So despite the app update telling me the facility is available, it isn’t? how will it “roll out”? Do I have to wait for another app update? thanks

The only one that I know for certain shows the full file name fullscreen on an iPad is the Amazon Drive app. The downside is that it isn’t free if you’ve got quite a lot of files to store and I did have some jiggly syncing issues with it but I think it’s definitely worth a try you can use it effectively as a trial for…

Let's be honest - it's not getting fixed. Dropbox clearly believes that the current iPad format is the right one. there's no way that after this long, they're "working on it". That said, surely an option to view full screen WOULD be a great, customer-friendly thing to do.
-
I completely agree. Dropbox is so good in many other respects but this is an issue that's it's almost impossible to believe that they can't fix. Amazon Drive is extremely good as well and their iPad app doesn't suffer from this. The only problem is that, last time I used it, there was a wierd file duplicating issue where…

I'd say they were MORE groovy, but not completely so! Using Files definitely exposes more of the filenames but it still not the total width and so some filenames are still an issue. I just can't understand why no one from Dropbox will explain WHY they won't allow us to choose between having the left-hand sidebar or not.…

Google Drive worked fine from a sync point of view - not quite as fast as Dropbox, which really can't be beaten by any of the other services I've tried in terms of sync speed and reliability. As I wrote in my earier post, however, it no longer solves the long filenames issue as they "improved it out" of their app (unless…
-
At the moment Files doesn’t solve the problem as the DropBox integration in the Public Beta 2 only opens an even smaller window in the middle of the screen for you to choose your file. This is may be a restriction of it being a Beta, but the Files app has the same narrow left -hand navigation area as the Dropbox app so…

PLEASE, PLEASE sort this out! Every time a new update comes out I get disappointed because you don't address the issue over file names being truncated on the iPad version. It's really difficult to differentiate similar file names when they are truncated over on the left -hand side with all that unused preview space on the…
