>> Have you tried the steps that Rich posted << Not yet, although I think I have a large amount of Dropbox deleted. It seems like with the advanced install. I can't go wrong. My bigger problem is I'm trying to come to grips with my desire to change the Home folder name every time I get a new Mac. I started doing this in…

I cannot delete these files, there may be more. Terminal refuses to delete them also. I struggle with this every time I get a new Mac. I feel like I must change the Home folder name. Google AI explains it the best. AI Overview: People change their Mac's home folder name primarily for organizational reasons, such as making…

The attachment function on this website doesn't work. When I click on the little paper clip, nothing happens. If I hover over the paper clip, it reads. "Attachment". Dropbox icon at the top shows "Dropbox 213.4.4597" on a line directly below it it reads "Up to date"

Hi, It Shows "Dropbox 213.4.4597 Up to date" In the lower part of the icon, there's a red dot with the number 5 in it. Not sure what that means.

Dropbox was fun while it lasted. However, with large capacity USB sticks being relatively inexpensive. I have found it's easier and more reliable to just make a copy of my documents file and travel with it. Anything that I alter I put in a unique folder where I put it back where it was on my main Mac.

What is strange about this procedure is there is no feedback on what is happening. No indication of the current setting. Normally, when you make changes, there's something showing the current state, then you make your change and that change is indicated in some manner. When you do the procedure mention, you don't have a…

"DROPBOX YOU NEED TO FIX THIS". This is a user to user forum. It is unlikely Dropbox officials will see your comments. You need to write to them directly to have any hope of this problem being fixed. In the meantime, I synchronize my files manually with a portable drive. After the downgrade, it's the ONLY way I can know I…

It's not working for me either. I'm familiar with the procedure of copying a folder icon to a different folder. I have the latest Mac operating system. I can only suspect that Dropbox is blocking this somehow. OR, it could be because the Dropbox folder is now in the Library (bad idea) but I can't say for sure. If anyone…

Well, I have some additional information that allowed me to complete the copying. After copying files in small pieces I found the problem file. It was some kind of a database for an oscilloscope. The file ended with .db, this document does not run on a Mac anyway. I deleted it. Hopefully next time when I back up, I'll have…

I'm having the exact same problem. Because of the changes to Dropbox recently, I no longer feel like I can trust it like I used to, so I started making backups. When I try to copy the entire folder. I will get "The operation can't be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8062). In previous versions,…

>> This isn't new or novel, this is how Dropbox worked from inception. We just want that ability restored. And iCloud has this option. << We've all had situations in life where we are trying to repair something, but the best solution is just to throw it away and buy something new. I wonder if we should start looking at…

It is beyond my comprehension why Dropbox would make this change. I have a variety of Macs, and MacBook Pros. None of them have less than 8 TB of storage. I suppose, storing some items "remotely only" would be an advantage to people with smaller amounts of storage. I just think having the SIMPLICITY of having ALL of your…

Problem is, the current version of Dropbox doesn't look like the website you linked to. On my Dropbox, in sync preferences there is NO "New Files Default" option.
