  • If this occurring when the app isn't running, then it would suggest that this isn't something related to the Dropbox app @"Firebrand01". The icons are not Dropbox related icons either, as you can see a full list of the desktop app's sync icons here. Having said that, are you manually closing and relaunching the desktop app…
  • The Basic plan is indeed free to use, so if you're being prompted to upgrade, are you possible at or over the space limit for the free account (2GB)? Could you send me a screenshot of the upgrade prompt you're seeing?
  • You would need to first unlink your account from this device, which you can do by following these steps, @"Babe Mooney". Once you've unlinked the account, you won't need to reinstall the app, since you can simply sign in with the new account instead.
  • From the previous recording, you were showing the "Get info" window for the Dropbox (personal) folder, which is what I'm referring to there @"Babe Mooney", apologies for the confusion. Just to clarify, you can navigate to the Dropbox folder, right click and choose "Get info" from there, so that we can try and correct the…
  • Thanks for the screenshot @"Firebrand01"! Just to double check with you, are these shortcuts on your Desktop to files within the Dropbox folder on your computer? Also, is the Dropbox app running at the moment? What's the sync status reporting?
  • When you open the "Get info" window for the folder @"Babe Mooney", can you try clicking the lock icon in the bottom right of the window? This will prompt you to enter your computer's admin username and password, and then can you try changing your permissions to read and write? You'll need to click the lock icon again after…
  • Thanks for the additional info there @"sherronnebattle". It does sound like you have the Dropbox app installed on your computer, which will be syncing files in a local folder called "Dropbox". However, it sounds like you might have the computer backup feature enabled to sync your Downloads folder. Can you please follow the…
  • How about when you try using another browser @"sherronnebattle", do the files still get downloaded to the Dropbox folder? If you have a look within the Downloads folder on your computer, do you see the files there with the Dropbox sync icon, or they only appear within the Dropbox folder?
  • Hello @"Sergef", thanks for reaching out! When your Dropbox account is full, you can still access your files, but they can't be synced while over the space limit. Are you having trouble with the accessing the files from your desktop Dropbox folder? Please let me know a little more info about this, like if you're receiving…
  • To help us isolate the root cause, can you try using the other browser to see if the files are being saved in Dropbox from there too @"sherronnebattle"? Also, can you double check for me to see if the Downloads location for Safari is set to Dropbox? If you're not familiar with this, you can do this by:* Opening Safari on…
  • Okay @"JS62", no problem! Feel free to get back to me here when you've had the chance to try this out - thanks.
  • I'm glad to hear that helped @"butterbisc"! If you need anything else, don't hesitate to give me a shout here. 😀 Wishing you a great weekend ahead!
  • I'm sorry to hear about that @"Madison-7"! Can you clarify for me, are the charges made through the Google/Apple app store, or directly to Dropbox? You can see this from your bank statement. If the charge is directly to Dropbox, can you use the lookup tool here to see if the charges might be associated with a different…
  • It looks like they're just copying the URL when they have the folder open in their account @"JS62". This wouldn't allow access for others to view the file, while the second link example indeed is a shared link. Can you ask them to follow the steps once more to create a shared link to the file, rather than just copying the…
  • Hey @"pmeriggi"! Since you have a similar question to the OP here, I've just moved your post to this thread. Please have a look at the info here, and give me a shout if you have any questions - thanks!
  • Hi @"sprocket003"! Can you clarify for me, is it showing this on the original backup folder, or did you re-enable the backup after renaming the device and it still shows the old name?
  • I'm happy to hear that helped @"Greg G"! I'll be just a post away if you have any other questions. 😀 Wishing you a great rest of your week!
  • Hello @"Mackeroy", I hope you're well today! Symlinks and aliases are not currently supported by Dropbox, but perhaps I could suggest a work around for this. Since you can create a shortcut to a web link with these steps, perhaps you could use this feature to add a shared link to the file you want to access from another…
  • Hey @"Greg G", thanks for posting! It sounds like you're using Smart Sync to reduce the space the files are taking on your hard drive. Next to files that are Smart Synced as "online only", you should see a grey cloud sync icon instead of the green tick. Do you see this next to the "camp" files? If so, can you right click…
  • In your Dropbox folder on your computer @"sophiieallan", do you see the "My PC/My Mac" folder there to try and open the files within locally? If you don't see this folder (or any of the contents), please make sure that you have the option to show hidden files enabled on your computer. You can do a quick web search on how…
  • Thanks for posting @"enevoi"! The OP here had a similar question, so I've just moved your post here so that you can take a look at the info in this thread. Give me a shout here if you have any other questions!
  • Could you check the "Get info" option for the Dropbox folder itself on your computer, so that we can see the difference in actual size and size on disk, @"wendy_mugridge"? Also, when you check the system storage for your computer, does it show the majority of the space being in Documents, or Other?
  • I'd like to see if there is any that we can find and assist you with regarding this @"Rikonthebarge", so I've just reached out to the email linked with your profile here. When you have the time, please check your inbox and get back to me there, so we can have a look into this alongside some account specific info - thanks!
  • For your account's current plan, is it possible that the folder is too large to create a transfer for, @"butterbisc"? If it's a large amount of data within the folder, it could be that the download is failing due to the website timing out, or the folder being to large. Since you have all your files in your account online…
  • Hi there @"MJoergensen", thanks for reaching out! Would you be able to send me a screenshot of the error that you're both getting there? Also, did the folder have any files in there, or it's just the folder itself that you want to delete? Let me know and we'll go from there!
  • Can you have a look at the version history for this file in your account online with these steps, @"Rikonthebarge"? Do you see a previous version of the files that you can restore? If not, if you just view the file in Dropbox online, can you see what size the file is showing there too? You can check out these steps if you…
  • Thanks for checking that @"timefrancesco"! The preview that is generated can sometimes be lower quality than the actual file, to improve the loading time for the file. While it's not ideal, if you want to watch the video from Dropbox on your mobile, perhaps offlining the file first will help with the preview quality.
  • Thanks for posting @"IslaRose"! Please take a look at this post when you have the time, and let me know what you find - cheers!
  • Hello @"jhwinston", thanks for posting! You can disable two step verification with the steps outlined here. If you want to just change the phone number for this, then you can check out how to do this here. I hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions!
  • Thanks for the screenshot @"Rikonthebarge". Could you check the properties of the file and send me a screenshot (excluding any personal info) of what you see there? You just need to right click the file and choose "Get info" if you're not familiar with this.
