Yes, I am pleased that they have individually reached out and stemmed the bleeding by getting us individually reverted to the old system. But they are warning us that they may not be able to keep this in place. I am also hoping that having the long on ramp will encourage them to figure out how to make icons that work for…

I suggest you read through the whole forum. Everyone here, as well as all of the people working at our companies, are tired of explaining to dropbox how the company torched our workflows.

I had a 45 minute consultation with a dropbox researcher today. I have no idea if this researcher has the ability to wake the company up and stop the exodus (and the very loud noise I will make on social media and at film companies if I leave Dropbox). But she seemed sympathetic once I was able to screen share and navigate…

Yes and it's wasteful for Dropbox's servers too - I'm now constantly taking entire projects (terabytes worth) offline and online daily because it's the only way to be sure I have the data I need locally, but also the space I need on my local drive. I'm sure I'm not the only one doing this. As one user pointed out, the info…

Okay, so far, Sync.com has confirmed that they have 3 different icons for fully synced folders. This is great news - they have what Dropbox killed off. Their icons for synced folders show: Grey check mark (partially pushed to local storage) Grey cloud (nothing in local stoage) Green check mark (completely pushed to local…

I've written to all of the ones I can find except Microsoft, which is too big and I'm not psyched to move to. Box.com may not have the icons we need but they are at least looking at the issue, per my latest response from them.

This is the message I'm sending to competing cloud services. I hope it seems clear to all you good folks of the community. I've already gotten helpful responses from two of Dropbox's competitors! Here's my message: To [competing cloud service CEO]: I and many Dropbox Business users are planning to migrate away from Dropbox…

Hi folks, I've got business sales calls set up with representatives at Mega, Icedrive, pCloud, and Sync. I'll let you know what they tell me about their systems, and whether they offer what Dropbox no longer seems interested in providing for its customers (clear desktop sync icons, and customer support).
-
@"Rua" - I suggest you read this form to understand why people are so furious. This change makes the system useless. We need to be able to see (1) when a folder is mixed between cloud and downloaded (2) when a folder is all-cloud (3) when a folder is fully downloaded to our system. This is how it used to be (it was…

The callous disregard for the customer is truly staggering. Because of having an entire team on Dropbox, I am sluggish in moving our whole business elsewhere until the end of the year, but I look forward to people sharing their notes about which services they recommend. Has everyone going public with their complaints to…

@"Megan" is anyone at Dropbox listening?

Yes folks, it seems like Dropbox has disabled the ability to vote on this, and deleted a lot of our messages in the various threads. Tweeting to CEO and the help teams is the best current idea: @"drewhouston" @"dbox_" @DropboxBusiness @DropboxSupport
-
@"NOCU" sorry for redundancy but please VOTE for the idea, which is trying to get Dropbox to bring back the old icons which actually worked. Here is the thread to up-vote please: https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Apps-and-Installations/Can-we-have-the-old-syncing-icons-back/m-p/620331#M43799

Latest help desk person wrote me: "We are aware of what our users have been saying about the new sync icons. Dropbox is always looking for ways to improve for our users. We always want to make things easier and simpler. We'll make sure your feedback is given to the engineering team who look after Dropbox on people's…

Please Upvote and comment on the idea of "change them back!" here. That's the only way to get Dropbox to pay attention: https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Dropbox-ideas/Can-we-have-the-old-syncing-icons-back/idc-p/619917#M75732%3Futm_source=community&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=e21 @"johnrinek" @"rusdom" @"michael…

I encourage people you know to vote of this idea. That appears to be the only way to get the company to take it seriously. Now that I realize everyone is getting different answers from tech-support, it’s clear that no one is in charge at dropbox. Customer service was really great about two years ago but I guess the company…

Thanks @"cindy t.3" - my brother swears by pCloud. I had actually convinced him to move over to dropbox - but I put the brakes on that before he made the switch, and I’m going to test out pCloud with him and see if this works better for my company. One new piece of information: I had one dropbox rep tell me the icon switch…

Hi there - this idea has a thread - commenting and Voting For This Idea is the best way to make Dropbox take notice: https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Delete-edit-and-organize/Searching-within-deleted-files/m-p/577443#M10948

This is a very serious problem with the latest dropbox, and customer service told us to upvote this thread below so that the engineers know that many people find it unacceptable: https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Dropbox-ideas/Can-we-have-the-old-syncing-icons-back/idc-p/617671#M75619 About the idea and comment and spread…

I tweeted to Dropbox and someone replied, said they would look into it but it feels like this is falling on deaf ears. Feel free to do the same, folks. I am also thinking of moving my company elsewhere although I prefer not to because of the hassle, but the icon system as it is now just doesn’t work. Like you, losing lots…

It’s very frustrating that this topic is not getting upgraded, there are actually a bunch of different complaint threads about it spread out across the community, but because the topic’s commenters aren’t consolidated, Dropbox is not seeing or responding to them. The stupidity of this icon change makes me so annoyed every…

I have already commented here but I hope everyone who lands on this discussion upvotes it. Those of us who have brought our companies into the Dropbox ecosystem, and liked it, hope that they will wake up and fix this before they lose our business (and we lose a bunch of time moving to another service).
-
Agreed. The new system is unbelievably useless and will force my company to move to another cloud client if dropbox can’t put it back how it was. Who at Dropbox came up with this? For synced files, we need to see —Folders fully online only —Folders mixed online/local —Folders fully local That’s how it was and it was very…
-
Dropbox recently changed (aka ruined) the usability of its formerly-useful Smart Sync finder icons. CLOUD ICON - this icon used to show up when a folder was 100% online-only. Very useful - you could see that a folder was there, and not eating up local drive space. But now it means only that "any little part" of a folder is…

Yes I would argue that this issue is not "Solved" at all. I've lost 3 files, and there is no way to find them. Please tell the developers this should be remedied IMMEDIATELY. We should be able to search by +Filename +Deleted. (And choose between filename and contents as well). Attached is a photo of my browser history as I…

Unfortunately this does not work. The file that I deleted is called piano. There are literally thousands of text files in my dropbox that mention a piano. So when I search for the music file, I get a list that goes on and on and on and on and I keep scrolling and it keeps refreshing and so far I have scrolled back through…
-
Hi folks, I'm also really baffled how to do this. I've tried clicking "show deleted files" and I get thousands of files.... I try to search for one file called "piano" which I deleted yesterday, and it toggles me back to all my files. I've been going round and round for two hours. I don't understand why I can't search…
