His example does NOT work if the DB folder resides on the Dropbox site. Of course it doesn't work. Why on earth would you try and drag anything out of a web browser window? Or, you could ask Amazon if they ever plan to properly certify their device so it can accept app installs from Google Play Store, then it can join all the other properly certified Android devices out there and not be crippled straight out of the box.

Try clearing the browser cache, or a different browser. Older versions of Safari are no longer able to view the Dropbox website properly. Use another browser.

To clarify, "._" files are MacOS X system files. The reason you see them is because the Mac Dropbox folder has been placed on a disk volume formatted with a non-Mac filesystem which doesn't respect the hidden attribute of those files. You can delete them, but they'll be recreated by your Mac every time you access those…
