  • I don't believe Markdown links are supported. You can create a link by higlighting some text and pressing ⌘ and K on Mac or Ctrl and K on Windows. Also, for the full list of supported keyboard shortcuts and markdown options, press ⌘ and / on Mac or Ctrl and / on Windows.

Quite the opposite in fact. You have to copy the link and send it via your own email client. You can't send a share link through the Dropbox interface.…

Basic first (which has already happened) and in September for Plus accounts. It's a deprecated feature, having been replaced by Share Links in October of 2012.
  • WalterKemble wrote:my issue is that on no page of dropbox is there the ubiqutous "gear" icon. I cannot access selective sync You're looking in the wrong place. It's not on the Dropbox website. It's in the Dropbox application installed on your computer. Click the Dropbox icon that's in the system tray (Windows) or menu bar…
  • If your Dropbox has stopped syncing and is only indexing, then it's likely a different issue from what is described here. Please start a new question specific to your issue. Thank you.
  • It sounds like you have something else overriding your screenshots. macOS would, by default, save screenshots to your desktop. Dropbox obviously saves them to your Dropbox folder. If they're going to Documents, then it's likely that you have another application that has control of the screenshot functionality (or you've…

If it was recently deleted then Dropbox Support may be able to help you recover the content, but the account is likely gone. The only way to…
  • mr_e wrote: Do you know if there is a way to transfer straight from Dropbox to Google Photos without having to download the pictures first? Neither Dropbox nor Google has such functionality. There are third-party services you can use to move files between cloud accounts. Do a Google search and you'll find them easily.
  • Dropbox has no sounds. Any notification sounds you hear are coming from your operating system.

  • RedLycaste wrote:Dave, this is clear, concise and exactly the information I was after. Except that it's no longer valid. The Public folder is a deprecated feature as of October 2012 and is in the middle of being phased out. Accounts created after October 2012 never received a Public folder and only Pro/Plus/Business…

For personal accounts, that is to say, non-Business accounts, data in a shared folder is counted against any member of that shared folder. If you have a 1TB account and invite someone with a 2GB…
  • Avez-vous utilisé Synchronisation sélective pour supprimer les dossiers locaux? Dans l'affirmative, ils ne seront pas inclus dans vos calculs spatiaux lorsque vous additionnez les tailles de fichiers dans Finder.

  • There is no way to prevent the old log in method from working. Both the Google log in and logging in with your email address and password will always be available. [This thread is now closed by moderators due to inactivity. If you're experiencing a similar behavior, feel free to start a new discussion in the Dropbox…
  • jdbradford7 wrote:So is it undr development? When is the release date? Dropbox rarely releases information about what features are in development or when certain features will be released. That's being said, it's unlikely that this is something that will ever come about. Simply put, Dropbox accounts are meant for…
  • You should still be able to log in with the email address and password for your account.
  • As @"Jane" mentioned, you really shouldn't share account credentials, but it sounds like everyone already is if they're logging into the Dropbox website. Ideally, the way to handle this would be that each person had their own private account, and a folder would be shared with each of them, and the files common to everyone…
  • That window scrolls. Swipe up for the remaining options.
  • No server operating system has ever been officially supported. Something has changed, either in the Dropbox client or with an OS update, that now prevent it from working properly. In the earlier days of this issue, the 15.x client would work because they were still supported, but now that they aren't, you'll likely just…

  • Because the process of downloading a folder requires that the folder first be compressed into a single file. It is that process that has a limit of 1GB or 10,000 files. Remember that this limitation only applies when downloading a folder. You can download a single file of any size.
  • Yes. It's called Selective Sync. With it, any folders that you uncheck will be removed from the local hard drive of that computer. You'll need to use it on each computer where you want to remove the local copy of a folder. Make sure that the folder is completedly synced BEFORE you uncheck it within the Selective Sync…
  • The File is too large to download message is referring to the limits for downloading a folder of files, which is 1GB in size or containing 10,000 files. Anything above those limits will produce an error if they try to download the folder whole. Instead they would need to download the individual files within the folder. An…

  • Have they installed it on a computer? Mobile devices (phones/tablets, etc.) do not count. If they did install it on a Windows computer, make sure they download and install the full Dropbox client and not the app that's found in the Microsoft Store. That app is a mobile client and will not qualify for the referral.

  • You're welcome, Simone. This is one of those cases where we're in the same position as you. We're waiting for more information from Dropbox on this one. We know that they're watching the thread and are taking into account all of your comments, but that's it. We don't know when they'll make another reply.
