Re : "Any comments on that? No, I do not think so :>" Imply someone wont reply just shows an argument that has come up against a wall of difference and now all you are just trying to yell down anyone that says anything different. You are saying they are misleading you because they didnt tell you, except they did,…

Rehashing the same stuff again wont change it. 1) A shared folder takes NO storage capacity. (folders are not files) 2) Files that are in your account take storage capacity. 3) Files in a shared folder are in your account (see 2)
-
hop h. : it is rejecting the share as the folder you're using holds data that the free account cant now hold since it full. 1) Instead you can share a empty folder to the free account. 2) Alternatively you can share any folder from the free account to the pro account. 3) Alternatively you can move all the files of the free…

No ben you cant keep your cake and eat it too. That YOU say I have yet to provide such an argument, does not ultimately make that true. As has been said we are simply rehashing what has been said already, that I state a different position than yours does not make you right and I wrong, and privilege you with expecting me…

Sorry Ben, but someone posted making comment about me (and to me), if you don't think someone should be allowed to reply back to such things, I suggest you take yourself off to China. To address your concerns. I was saying Bye to Steve, he said he was leaving. Your inability to have your issues resolved to your…

Nope, nope, nope, and nope. Feel good about yourself there Steve, hope that little show made you feel like a big man. So bye now, just one thing, go look up what troll means, and then examine your post for similarities. I think you will be surprised (actually that's sarcasm, I doubt you would get it). :-)

Well BEN L : there are always problems, just those that affect profit and those that do not. I dont feel like arguing your points since, you strategy of first complaining about how I market MY service and then acknowledging its not mine is pretty wack. All Ill mention is check the volume of files in your dropbox before…
-
My comments dont address why your complaining as that would be a opinion on the user and thus trolling (imo), only what your complaining about. If your making unhappy about the lack of info DB project about the use of space when sharing, this I dont disagree, Db on many items dont project accurate information (I'm standing…
-
Ben L. : Hey I can see your examples as feasible and real, and Im In no way said there are not ways to smart the system or produce huge traffic volumes on one account. Im just expressing what and why Db do what they do. If one user has 500 machines all syncing a nice big 100GB file that completely changes each day they…

Allen C. : Sharing a folder is about collaborating on the content, if you just wanted people to upload files then you can create a File Request link and supply it to people, from which they can go to the link and upload files.
-
You have access to every file shared to you, if you choose not to access it more the fool you for having them. They are not borrowed, they are collaboratively accessible by many, a library that can give you all the books at once, and allow you to read everyone's foot notes, any yet you still think it should be near free.…

Adam C. : Saying someone has an inability to do anything, just because they disagrees with you doesn't make them incapable, if you think it does you're ignorant, if you think it should then your arrogant. Since you leaving (again), ill just reply with this last message, People are NOT sharing "space" with you, they are…
-
@Adam C. Your case falls down on the second point. RE: "I then get given shared access to some space for some sort of shared project. I perhaps need 1GB files from there, which I regularly use." Dropbox has no functionality for the above example point. What you are given the opportunity to access or decline access to is a…
-
@Adam C. : Its not a ****** explanation, its the one that causes them to charge in the way they do, just becuase you dont like it doesnt make it ******, you just dont like it. As to file ownership, I dont think you understood what I said about how they store files, so again. You go to microsoft site and download the…
-
Adam C. : You failed to address WHY its a ****** explanation, so Ill have to assume you really meant its just an explanation you didnt like. As to telling you again , ill reply with "READ THE THREAD", asking someone to repeat themselfs is arrogant behaviour, you have added nothing to the discussion to expect me to explain…
-
*Corstiaan S. : *again i would suggest you actually find out where costs lay before implying what they are. 100 people accessing a 1GB file, will mean that 100 people make reads access into the Amazon S3 storage backbone of Db, each and every one of these reads is charged to DB. Its is not all about the physical space used…
-
@Corstiaan S. LOL you calling me ignorant, just goes to show how ignorant you are. The purpose of DB is to sync files between your computer and devices. If you share a folder with someone then you share the files in the folder to be able to sync them between your devices. So "why the ****** would you want "A copy of" all…
-
Corstiann S: So do you have a copy of all the files in your dropbox? YES And do those files ALSO sync with the other persons copy of the files in their dropbox? YES So you have something even BETTER than a normal folder that just sits in your dropbox? YES . So dont you think its fair that your dropbox is big enough to put…

You can LEAVE and REJOIN a shared folder when ever you like. So one method of getting space is to LEAVE the shared folder. And REJOIN it when you need it. If you ONLY need some files from the shared folder and ONLY at some times, I would additionally ask the owner of the shared folder for a LINK to it, in that way you can…
-
Stefan M. : we are not talking about the content folder, were talking about the application folder and the application user data folder.
-
The application need not reside on C:\program files\dropbox , but it does install there end of story. So what you do is move it afterwards, creating a symlink folder back to that location, so the updater wont add it back there on you. As such leave it running from the symlink location so it doesnt know any better :-P.…

shared folders will appear in your dropbox, upload to the folder in your dropbox. or download the DB app and replicate your DB folders on your pc, then just copy the files into the folders.
-
on the web site, in the folder, press CTRL-A, this selects all files, and at the top left of the list it says how many you have selected.
