  • If you found a way to do that I'd love to know how. On my Mac I blocked a lot of stuff from communicating with the network which worked for a bit and the updates happened anyhow.
  • To those who might consider switching to OneDrive because it supposedly works so much better than Dropbox... I am currently waiting about an hour with the various bits of OneDrive using 100%+ CPU uploading one folder thats 1.4GB and 26000 items and one thats 130mb with about 500 items. Trying to transfer from one work Mac…
  • What "syncing problems" are you referring to?
  • Dumb question but did you reboot? That seems like a stuck process that's hanging out but using no CPU time.
  • I'm really happy for you. Truly happy that OneDrive works. Of course whether OneDrive works is completely irrelevant to those of us using Dropbox. Might want to follow your own advice re useful contributions. Also doesn't change the fact that Dropbox and OneDrive both use the same FileProvider API from Apple. But I'm sure…
  • Hate to break this to you but OneDrive on Monterey handles files exactly the same way Dropbox beta does. They both use the same FileProvider API that is now mandated by Apple as does Google Drive.
  • what does "fully" mean? Because they're forced to use the Apple FileProvider API it won't work like before. Everything is now managed by the operating system unless you go in and say to download the file (which had a bug the last time I used this....you couldn't download a folder with subfolders. had to go all the way down…
  • Very useful info. I've been wondering about this myself...before I removed Dropbox 😉
  • The betas do support online-only via macOS's built-in FileProvider API (at least on Apple Silicon-based Macs). In fact it is the ONLY mode they support unless something has changed very recently since I removed Dropbox from my Mac.
  • Several things. First off, selective sync has never meant create offline copies of the files. It just means which folders you want synced. If you (in the older version of the client) started everything online-only you'd get selective synced online-only copies. Secondly, pretty sure the cloud icon is controlled by the…
  • Offline file stuff isn't working right. I dont know if its just the online indicator that isnt working right or its the full thing. But I have to go into subfolders sometimes to get them to be offline. Definitely is not working right. and this is build 149.2.555. Again I dont know why this forum is so far behind on the…
  • Why would it install an older build than what you already have? I don't know why this forum is so far behind in posting about builds but I got the 148.x builds thru the automated update and it continues to update (noted this several pages ago). I have received both 148.2.2334 and 148.2.3534 which my system is currently on.…
  • @"Michael B.10" yes you are 100% correct and I misspoke about the DT database. Actually in general I don't even index stuff and just have the databases on my internal drive using the syncstore mostly as yet another backup. And it's funny because at one point I tried @"JWL Photo" 's wonderful instructions multiple times and…
  • DEVONthink works fine. Least it did for me. at the end of the day its just another location on the disk. Tho in my case I only indexed a folder in there, I didnt store the database itself there. but again...its just another location.
  • That did actually not work for me. Tried it several times. Then just waited and eventually when one of the betas installed it then moved everything.
  • Sorry no i meant wait for an update. It took a couple of updates of the client before mine switched over.
  • See if something happens on the next release. It took awhile for mine to switch over.
  • That would be two of us 😉 No idea why I'm on that release.
  • No clue. On M1-based Mac with early releases turned on. Keeps updating on its own. you can however change the link up top and put in a different build number. So https://www.dropbox.com/downloading?build=148.2.1667&plat=mac&type=full&arch=arm64 will grab what i've got for Apple Silicon
  • OK sort of fixed. Posting here because this list is behind at least several beta releases now. v148.2.1667 the offline feature works but you can't apparently just select a folder and have it bring down all of the subfolders. Some work. Some dont. Good times.
  • I spoke too soon. I just got another update which seems to have fixed that problem v148.2.1265
  • Honestly I don't think you want the new location right now. Its a mess including offline files not working properly, at least on my machine. I can ask for it to make it offline only but still have the zero byte stub file and an icon that notes that its cloud-only.
  • This is ridiculous. These betas for the Mac are absolute trash and each release shows basically no progress aside from a changing version number. Oddly Google was able to avoid all this nonsense with the way they originally designed Drive Stream. Maybe Dropbox should get some tips from the team at Google.
  • Its still there. You may have to force quit/relaunch Finder.
  • Ah ok. False alarm then. Had never noticed it before but its turned off for me.
  • So there is a new setting I think in the web UI settings for your user... "Smart Sync update for Mac" either on of off (off on my setup). That is in addition to the "Dropbox system extension" setting. Has anyone else seen this and for those having issues with the Monterey setup have you tried turning it on?

  • Not sure this is true (about a server-side switch). So ****** me...I turned on early releases and it promptly went and updated to the latest beta AND created the folder in CloudStorage. But I had to try to be smarter then went and removed everything and did the universal install. Nothing in CloudStorage now and I'm back to…
  • But that release only came out a couple weeks back. Prior it was beta (which I was also messing with and had too many issues so went back to Intel until they officially released it).
  • Yes that was the last release version, yet still a native Apple Silicon release. The one you are referring to I assume is the beta which I will not install.
