Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone can help with a Dropbox upload issue I'm experiencing.

I am trying to upload files to Dropbox. The file appears in the upload folder, but the status remains "Waiting" and the upload never progresses. A yellow triangle with an exclamation mark is displayed, which I assume indicates an error, however I can't find any information explaining what the issue is.

So far:

The file remains stuck on "Waiting" indefinitely.

The upload does not start or complete.

I can access the Dropbox folder and navigate the site without issues.

No detailed error message is displayed when I hover over or select the warning icon.

Has anyone experienced this before or know what the yellow warning triangle indicates? Are there any troubleshooting steps I should try?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Hi, I am trying to upload a 71mb file via the website from windows.

I initially uploaded the file from a linux machine on chromium browser with no problem. However from a windows machine using google chrome I tried to update that one file.

First I just tried uploading in the hope it would overwrite the existing file, but the upload became stuck at 54mb 2s remaining. I waited a long time, cancelled, retried - same result.

So I deleted the file I was trying to overwrite on dropbox & tried to upload again - same result stuck at 54mb/71 2s remaining.

So I tried uploading from firefox - same result stuck at 54mb / 71mb 2s remaining.

I have 900/300 Mbps down/up connection & 2GB space on the dropbox account.

There have been 2 seconds left for over 10 minutes now.

I haven't used this for ages, but get constant reminders about using it. Well this is why I don't. I need to get this uploaded but instead spend 30 minutes trying multiple attempts & then searching for answers, then registering for community help & typing a long e-mail. It's a frustrating user experience.

Successful upload: Linux Mint 22.04, chromium browser
stuck upload: Windows 10, latest Firefox, latest chrome

I sent something earlier to a client and added it to my dropbox via the desktop app (Mac) and send it with no issues. Had to make a change and went to upload the revised file and was met with an error message saying that I could not sync the file as I was now using 6.44 TB of my 2TB plan. It shows this on the browser dropbox and the app. I've went through all my files meticulously (even shared folders) and I am just below 2 TB as I have always been maintaining. I cannot find what this could even be and it is just an error as far as I can tell. Anyone know what this could be? Or how to fix it?

We had 300+ event speaker presentation files uploaded for an event; majority not naming the files as requested so we can organize for the presentation rooms. If we had the ability to add a couple more custom fields to the upload page that would RENAME the file accordingly that would have saved us a lot of time and stress.

Example of how we’d want to do ours:
*indicates required fields

Field: Full Name* (This exists already and is GREAT for file organization)
Email Address* (Exists already and works well to confirm successful uploads)

Dropdown: session date* (not a calendar, just a regular drop down with dates we list)
Field: session # (they can type any letters or numbers)
Dropdown: Plenary, General Session, Poster…
Checkbox: is this an updated version?

Then we get filenames like:
FullName_9-16_218_plenary_UPDATE.pptx

Unless dropbox can expand the upload page options, we're going to have to resort to trying another third party integration like EZ File Drop or another file storage service option. We’d much rather pay dropbox for a premium feature like this knowing it’s all in their capable hands.

For anyone else needing a solution now: look for an article from ezfiledrop called "how-to-make-a-branded-upload-portal-for-dropbox" (it won't let me post a link here). NOTE: this will not rename the files as I was wanting but, the custom field dropdown values become the folder structure in dropbox. "EZ File Drop reuses folders that already exist, so new uploads go to the right place instead of spawning duplicate folders."

For anyone wishing this was a thing,
please UPVOTE!

Thank you!

[Moderator edit: Information removed as per Community Guidelines]

does connecting my iPhone to a MacBook’s Dropbox Desktop app have a faster upload speed and it will make sure all my photos get to the same correct destination & directive same as you would when backing up and uploading with the iOS app?

And if so, can you help me with the necessary steps to make sure the importing process is successful if I do choose to do this process?

also is it okay to ask any follow up questions?

also the reason I posted that picture up above is because is it okay to do this while the uploading proceess is still ongoing? Will it just continue where I left off?

I want to copy a video from Android 16 to DropBox. I made the video using my prior Android 10 camera, and the file was transferred to my Android 16. I know the video is there because Google One shows it as a large file it wants to delete. BUT DropBox doesn't show the video when I try to + (add files). That is, I don't see it listed as a Recent file, or Recent/Videos, or Videos, or Images/Videocapture, or Download/Videos, and on and on. And I don't use any of the "drives." ///

So I'm thinking perhaps it's hiding somewhere else, and I could copy it to a location that DropBox would see. But: (a) When Google One lists it, it doesn't provide location information. I just see the thumbnail so I can delete the file. (b) I don't see it in My Files, Google Files, Google Photos. ( c) I just added Total Commander and did a search on *.mp? and *.mp4, and don't find it. ///

Do you have any clues about how I could find this video and copy it to DropBox?

How on EARTH can I stop Dropbox from keeping the screenshots in dropbox folder? The "Save Screenshots to Dropbox" is disabled, and Dropbox still save them (this immoral behaviour started few weeks ago, for no reason)

If I didn't have to use Dropbox because it is what my company uses I would uninstall in an instance.

I am using a desktop version on windows 11

However when I try to copy even just one file to my account, it says I've exceeded my storage limit and it won't copy the file.

I've tried clearing cookies, logging out and back in, trying it on a new browser, and even trying it on a new account. Nothing works. I had actually copied a couple files from it the other day and it worked. But now it won't work. Let me know if anyone has any solutions.

Hello,

I recently started backing up my photos from my iPhone via the Photos App + Dropbox extension, but I noticed that the file sizes changed drastically between what was displayed on the iPhone vs. what showed up on my Dropbox desktop app. Furthermore, I noticed that some of my videos went from 60fps down to 30fps. I even tried uploading said video directly from the Dropbox app and while it went back to 60fps, the file size was still about half what showed up in the Photos app.

What's going on here? Is there any way to force the upload to maintain original quality? It seems a bit ridiculous for it to compress the files when the whole point of a backup is to be 1-1 with the original.

Thank you,

Jordan

It appears to be possible to use the command-line client. I would have replied to the other thread, but it appears to be locked, so I'm opening this thread to share the information.

After installing the client, I ran a command and it appears to be working:

```
dbxcli put /tmp/large-file
```

While there is a feature to be notified via of new files/folders or activity in the account, there is no feature that indicates if a file is new since you last viewed the folder. With having so many files, it can be difficult to know what has or hasn't been viewed and it is cumbersome to go through the setting in each individual file to see the upload date. The automation to separate documents into folders by upload date is a slight workaround but adds complexity to view all needed files. Either a symbol of "This is new since last opened" OR adding in the upload date directly under file view would be extremely helpful.
