Hello,

I'm encountering a major issue with Dropbox sharing, and I’m trying to understand what’s going wrong.

It seems that all of my shared links are no longer accessible to external users. When I open them while logged into my account, everything works fine. However, if I test the same links in a private/incognito window (or from another device not logged in), I get an error message and the files cannot be accessed.

Additionally, when I try to create a new shared link with expiration settings, it also fails and returns an error.

Here’s what I’ve observed:

Existing shared links → only work when I’m logged in

External access → error message (file unavailable)

Creating new shared links with expiration → error

Issue seems to affect all files, not just one

I’m wondering:

Could this be related to a temporary restriction or bandwidth limit?

Has my account or some content been flagged or restricted?

Is there a way to view logs or identify problematic files that could cause this?

If anyone has experienced something similar or has insights, I’d really appreciate your help.

Thanks in advance!

We don't want to make our clients open accounts that they don't want.

I am trialing dropbox advanced ahead of possible rollout. It works well on the team side, but when i share a link for an external user to browse - once they try to download it aggressively prompts them to sign up with a tiny 'download only' link.

Its a deal breaker for us, it looks unprofessional and we know customers will either not download the files or will ask us to share another way.

I have some large files (several GB each) that I would like to make available to customers to test my company's software. Due to the file sizes, upload/download times can be quite long, and I don't want to chew up my organization's storage space by uploading each file multiple times. So, I'd like to place the files in a single Dropbox folder and share the link with each relevant customer.

However, I want to make sure that anyone who I share the link with can't see who else I've sent it to. Recipients of the link may be early in the adoption process and can't be officially "exposed" as customers yet, and our customers may be competitors with each other, so I want to be sure that no one outside my organization can see anyone else who isn't part of either their or my organization.

For example:

In this folder, I am RK, BC is my colleague, and XH and ZW are employees at one of our customers. However, if XH and ZW weren't colleagues, I would want each of them to only see themselves, RK, and BC as members of the folder.

Does this feature exist, and if so, how can I enable it in shared folders? I would want this obscurity to propagate downwards to any sub-folders (and sub-sub-folders) as well.

Recently, access to shared files started requiring an extra verification code from the admin every single time. Before, opening the shared link from email was enough and things worked smoothly. Now it adds unnecessary delays, especially when the admin isn’t immediately available, and it makes the process frustrating for less technical users. If there’s a way to disable this requirement or simplify access again, I’d really appreciate the guidance.

I outsource my work on dropbox (six videos appearing on my portfolio website) and make my content available to a number of individuals that need access to it. I am currently unable to share my links anymore due to: "Public links have been temporarily suspended for generating excessive traffic." In the mail, if I click on cancel the suspension, it says I have been banned.

I really urgently need my files to be accessible. I think this "high traffic" issue ONLY emerges in the moment in which I am personally updating my website, because I need to control the visual output for a longer period of time (yesterday I worked on it for one hour for instance). Videos go in loop in the meanwhile, so the traffic caused by my personal visualization in the moment in which I am modifying the website is not something I can change. But still, it is something that happens once every six months. I am not violating the traffic rules otherwise (with the normal external daily use of my content). It is not due to external people streaming my content......

Please help me:)

I just upgraded my account to the Plus today and was hoping to use it for video editing business. I am trying to get the ability to upload roughly 20gb video files, which from what I can see the plus account should be able to do easily. However, when i created the file request link and used it on another browser signed into another account and tried to upload a video file, I keep getting the 2gb upload restriction.

I've GPTed it and tried to use the built in AI on Dropbox but i just cant figure it out.

Any help would be really appreciated.

also, using chrome on a 1 gig fiber ethernet connection.

Dear Dropbox Support Team,

I’ve received a notification stating: “We have suspended your activity. Your files may contain phishing elements.”

I tried to solve with online support unsuccessufully.

It’s severely impacting my Dropbox experience. I primarily use your service to synchronize files between family computers and to share files with family and friends.

I can assure you that my files don’t contain phishing elements, and I make a conscious effort to keep my Dropbox space safe and clean.

Please provide further details so I can resolve this issue promptly.

Thank you for your support.

Best regards.

My shared account, one of musicans that I share a folder with is using windows, and he keeps having issues. The error message he was receiving is “You are out of memory”, I have asked him to delete. his old free DropBox account, which he said he did. I know it’s not my account, because I have 2 TB, and not even close to using a 10th of it. He told me the message he gets from DB is he needs to establish an account using a email address?? I have invited him, with edit and view rights, and even sent a link. He thinks because he briefly paid for an account 30 years ago, the his windows laptop is hard coded. How can he strip any reference to his old DropBox off his windows laptop, and what if he tried a new password. Another weird thing is, when I look at his name it has a red disabled next to his name

I’ve set up a series of nested folders and a View-Only link.

Q1:
Is there any way that I can prevent one of my link-sent-to-visitors-view-only link from doing a Copy to Dropbox? To be clear, I want them to view it. I want them to download and enjoy what’s there. I know they will share some things. I just don’t want mass copy-everything-that’s-here, which is possible from the main folder I'm sharing. [I think they answer is that I can't stop it.]

Q2:
If a person I send my link to has their own Dropbox account and does a Copy to (their) Dropbox, can I know they did this? And please assure me that as it's copy not share, II will not be stuck having their folders/files and that I won’t see their stuff unless they specifically share their folders with me.
